ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday reconstituted the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
Following Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s approval, a notification for the reconstitution of the CCI was also issued.
The Chairman of the eight-member Joint Interests Council will be Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif while the Chief Ministers of all four provinces will be the members of the council.
For the first time, the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs was included in the Council of Common Interests instead of the Minister of Finance.
Although the Federal Minister of Finance traditionally serves as a permanent member of the CCI, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif included former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the council.
Federal Minister of Finance Muhammad Orangzeb became part of the cabinet for the first time, so Ishaq Dar was placed in the council in his place.
According to the notification, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif and Amir Maqam were also included in the CCI.
According to the notification, the CCI came into existence on March 21, 2024.
