The Appellate Tribunal of the Peshawar High Court Monday declared the senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf eaders Murad Saeed and Azam Swati eligible for contesting the upcoming Senate elections.
The decision to this effect was made by Judge Shakeel Ahmed of the Appellate Tribunal convened in the Peshawar High Court after hearing appeals of the two PTI stalwarts.
Azam Swati and Saeed had sought recourse through the Appellate Tribunal of the Peshawar High Court challenging the decision of the returning officers who had declared them ineligible for the Senate elections. The returning officers had rejected the nomination papers of Azam Swati, Murad Saeed, and Khurram Zeeshan for various reasons.
Following the deliberations, the tribunal accepted Murad Saeed, former federal Minister for communication in Imran Khan’s cabinet and Azam Swati appeals allowing Murad Saeed and Khurram Zeeshan to contest the Senate elections on general seats while Azam Swati has been cleared to contest on technocrat seat.
