ISLAMABAD – Petrol and diesel rates are expected to drop from the middle of September 2024 in the fourth such relief amid drop in global oil rates.

Pakistanis are expecting a relief in prices of petrol and diesel, with prices expecting to come down by Rs10 per litre, unless the government raises the petroleum levy. In light of stable exchange rate, and if current tax rates remain accordant, people will get fourth relief on fuel rates and it would bring down soaring inflation.

Despite the drop, petroleum levy might be increased by Rs5 per litre to address significant revenue shortfall, potentially reducing the price drop to Rs5-6 per litre.
