Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Mir Tariq Ali Khan Talpur, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of underprivileged communities and emphasized the role of NGOs in supporting those in need. Speaking on the importance of transparency and accountability, Minister Talpur noted that NGOs should prioritize the welfare of the most vulnerable, particularly in the aftermath of the devastating floods that wreaked havoc across Sindh.

Minister Talpur stated that the Social Welfare Department is vigilant in regulating and monitoring NGOs to ensure they operate in line with their social welfare objectives. “NGOs must focus on aiding the underprivileged and deserving communities. The floods affected thousands, and it is essential that relief reaches the people who truly need it, not just a select few,” he said.

He also warned against the misuse of resources by NGO workers, which hinders the effective distribution of aid. “Every NGO must operate with transparency and integrity to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it the most,” he added. Minister Talpur highlighted the People’s Housing Scheme as a landmark initiative by the Sindh Government, aiming to provide 2.1 million homes to deserving individuals. He described the project as unprecedented, stating that no similar initiative exists anywhere in the world. “This is not just about constructing homes; it is about offering a better living environment to those who need it the most. The project is free from corruption, and every house is being delivered with full transparency,” he said.

He also clarified that the Social Welfare Department is open to collaboration with NGOs to further the welfare of the people. “We are committed to ensuring that every individual receives their due rights, and we invite NGOs to work with us in achieving this goal,” Minister Talpur said.

The Minister emphasized the importance of NGOs in bringing about positive social change, particularly in addressing the needs of the poor. He reiterated the Sindh Government’s commitment to ensuring that all forms of assistance and resources are distributed equitably and efficiently, to benefit those in need.

Through the clear commitment to transparency and the historic housing project, Minister Talpur reaffirmed the provincial government’s determination to uplift underprivileged communities and ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach the most deserving individuals.
