ISLAMABAD – The federal budget 2024-25 with a total outlay of Rs18,877 billion has been unveiled with focus on increasing tax collection and support for productive sectors.
The federal government has decided to set the tax collection target of Rs12,970 billion for next fiscal year. It has proposed imposition of taxes on various items, including stationary.
The government has proposed 10 percent tax on stationary items, books newsprint and other items. If the proposal is approved the prices of pencil, copies, paper, rubber, sharpners, pens and others will go up.
Stationery items list
The list of stationary items include pens, notebooks, pencils, markers, desk accessories, staplers, punching machine, calculators, files, tape, diaries, tonners.
Expected Price of Notebooks, Pencils and other Stationary Items in July 2024
The budget 2024-25 will come into effect from July 2024 if it is approved by the parliament. The new prices of notebooks, pencils and other stationary items will be determined keeping in view the imposition of taxes.
If the 10% increase gets the parliament’s nod, the prices of the stationary items will be determined accordingly.
