The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a one-game ban to Multan Sultans’ Chief Operating Officer (COO) Haider Azhar following his outburst after the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8.

Haider was charged with a level 3 breach of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The Sultans’ COO was found to have violated article 2.13, which relates to personal abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire or match referee during an HBL PSL match.

The incident occurred after the final between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars with Haider confronting on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Alex Wharf and allegedly abusing the English umpire during his outburst.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama took notice of the issue and charged Haider under the provided guidelines which the Sultans’ manager chose to contest.

Ultimately he was found guilty of the breach following a hearing at PCB’s boardroom.

“It is truly disappointing that this outstanding tournament has ended with a team manager’s misdemeanour getting him banned for a match”.

Haider Azhar’s actions were totally against the values and spirit of this beautiful game and it is my responsibility to make sure such transgressions are dealt firmly” Roshan Mahanama had written.

After the sentencing by the PCB, Haider Azhar will miss the first game of PSL season 9 for Multan Sultans.
