A passenger arriving from Sharjah to Karachi has displayed symptoms indicative of monkeypox, according to airport sources. Identified as Javed Ahmed, a resident of Rajanpur, he was promptly moved to an isolation ward as a precautionary measure, and authorities are treating the case as highly concerning. Monkeypox, caused by the Mpox virus, is a viral infection suspected to be transmitted to humans by African rodents and primates. The disease typically presents with a rash that follows the onset of fever by 1 to 3 days, often beginning on the face and spreading to other body parts.
The rash progresses through stages from flat macules to scab-forming pustules. Symptoms also include headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes. With an incubation period ranging from 7 to 14 days, monkeypox usually spans 2 to 4 weeks. Medical authorities are maintaining stringent precautions to prevent potential spread.
