In a heartwarming moment, a female badminton player from China received a marriage proposal after she and her partner secured the gold medal in mixed doubles. Haong Yaqiong, who triumphed alongside Zheng Siwei, was proposed to by her compatriot in men’s doubles, Liu Yuchen.
The two athletes have not only shared the court as mixed doubles partners but have also been friends for an extended period. Haong Yaqiong happily accepted Liu Yuchen’s proposal, marking a significant moment in their relationship.
This is not the only romantic development at the Olympics.
Earlier, Argentine handball player Pablo Simont proposed to fellow athlete and compatriot, hockey player Maria. The couple got engaged in the Olympic Village, further illustrating the unique bonds formed during this prestigious event.
