LAHORE – Javeria Khanum, a Pakistani woman from southern port city of Karachi, reached India via Wagha border to marry Kolkata-based Sameer Khan.
She left for the neighbouring country on Tuesday after a 45-day visa was granted to her after two previous visa rejections and the Covid pandemic stalled their marriage plans for around five years.
Javeria Khanum entered into India from the Attari in Amritsar district where she was received a warm welcome from her fiancé. His family members also beat dhol on the occasion.

Talking to media at the border, the couple said the marriage will be held in January next year. Khanum said she was extremely happy as she received much love here.
Sameer Khan also revealed how they both got in touch and decided to marry. He said he showed his interest in marrying Khanum after seeing her photo on his mother’s mobile phone.
He said it all started in May 2018 when he returned to India from Germany where he was studying.
