The women of the Pakistani community in the United States have expressed solidarity with the women who have been abused on the motorways and called for the protection of women in Pakistan and their equal rights. The Overseas Pakistani Global Foundation Women’s Wing organized a special event in New York.
A dialogue was held on awareness regarding the rights of women and a resolution was passed to give protection and rights to women. President of the Foundation Tahira Din and General Secretary of the Foundation Rana Naseem presided over the function. Pakistani Consul General Ayesha Ali and NASA County Executive Director for Asian American Affairs Farah Mozowala were the special guests.
Participants expressed solidarity with the woman affected by the Lahore Motorway tragedy. Chairman Overseas Pakistani Global Foundation Zaheer Akhtar Mehar condemned the motorway tragedy and demanded immediate arrest of the accused and their prosecution.
Senior Advisor Allama Syed Taswarul Hassan Gilani highlighted the importance and place of women in society from an Islamic perspective. Central Senior Vice President Rana Javed and New York Chapter President Munawar Riaz, Vice President Fauzia Chughtai and General Secretary Tahir Sindhu also addressed the gathering.
