Pakistan weather; more rains, snowfall predicted

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rains with snowfall over mountains for parts of Pakistan on Monday evening/night and Tuesday.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to prevail during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, rain wind-thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains is expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Monday evening/night.

On Tuesday, a rain wind-thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains is expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeast Balochistan.

Cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad and elsewhere in the country.

Fog is also likely to occur at isolated places in the plain of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 02-04 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Rain-thunderstorms with snow over mountains occurred at isolated places in Sindh, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 07, Airport 05), Rawalakot 02, Garhiduptta 01

Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 02

Snowfall (Inches): Malamjabba 02 and Astore 0.8

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 12 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 02 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 84 per cent.
