Pakistan volleyball squad wins laurels by ‘whitewashing’ Australian team

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan volleyball team unexpectedly brought unexpected joy and moments of jubilation for their nation by beating the rival Australians (3-0) in the third and final volleyball match, thus completing the series clean sweep.

A large number of volleyball fans, notable town personalities, diplomats, and former greats attended the final match at the Sports Complex.

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood, was the chief guest of the final match of the three-match series. He, along with Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman ChaudhryYaqoob, President of PVF SohailKhawar Mir and Chairman & CEO of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik, witnessed the match and appreciated the performances of both teams, particularly that of the Pakistan squad for outclassing the Australian team.

MuradJehan led the national side, dominating the game with 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20. “A clean sweep in the series against such a tough rival team will boost the boys’ morale, and I hope we will continue with the same spirit and teamwork,” team captain Murad said after the match.

“This victory means a lot to us as it gives us a big boost of confidence for the AVC Challenge Cup.” Later, prizes were distributed, and awards and trophies were given to the winning players. It is good that the Pakistani players have been trained for the Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup, said ChaudhryYaqoob. Pakistan team left for Bahrain Friday night from Sialkot Airport.
