LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday named Aqib Javed as interim head coach for the Pakistan men’s red-ball cricket team, after Jason Gillespie stepped down from this post.
In a statement, PCB said Aqib’s first responsibility as interim coach will be to lead the team during their two-match Test series against South Africa, part of the ongoing all-format tour. The first Test is scheduled to take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion from December 26 to 30, while the second Test will be held at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town from January 3 to 7.
Currently, the Pakistan men’s team is in South Africa for a three-match T20I series, which will be followed by a three-match ODI series. The PCB’s appointment of Aqib Javed ensures continuity and leadership as the team prepares for these crucial red-ball matches.
