Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that Pakistan cannot afford to start another military operation in the country as history showed peace was never established with military operations. The JI chief was addressing “Leadership Conference” in Lahore which was attended by senior leaders and workers from across the country.
Addressing the participants, Hafiz Naeem said General Musharraf handed over military bases to US forces and a wave of terrorism increased with the start of the war on terror. He said then government had wreaked havoc with country’s economy for dollars. He said the Army cannot afford that citizen hate against them. JI chief said if military operation was necessary then it should be briefed the nation that what results were achieved from the earlier military operations.
He said the military operation will create rift between public and the army. He said Afghan issue should not be seen in an emotional way. He said it was in the interest of the nation and the country that military operations should no be started. He was surprised that operation was being started on the name of China while the weapons were being purchased from the US.
