Pakistan-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Groups Members on Thursday in a virtual meeting reiterated their commitment to work for the betterment of their people by capitalizing on the similarities and celebrating diversity between the two countries.
The joint virtual meeting between the Pakistan-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Groups in the Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan with the Australia-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Parliament of Australia was held in Parliament House. This was a first of its kind joint meeting and aimed to develop a framework for further action.
Ms. Marriyam Aurangzeb, MNA and Convener Pak-Australian Parliamentary Friendship Group welcomed the participants and informed them regarding the need to strengthen linkages for benefit of the people of Australia and Pakistan.
She highlighted the need to prioritize key areas for engagement including capacity building of the Secretariats in the Parliament, capitalizing on Pakistan’s demographic dividend through creation of educational opportunities, creating enabling environment for innovation through knowledge sharing on science and technology and addressing challenges of food security and climate change through collaboration in the field of agriculture.
