RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at Karachi Expo Centre, ISPR said.

A statement issued by Army’s media wing said the top general commended active participation of defense manufacturers from friendly nations. The exhibition opened on November 19 and runs through November 22, 2024, showcases an impressive array of arms and equipment from both domestic and international exhibitors.

During his visit, COAS engaged in meaningful discussions with foreign military officials and defense delegates, emphasizing the importance of strengthening defense collaborations and partnerships.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the unveiling of the Shahpar-III, an advanced combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Pakistan’s Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS). The Shahpar-III is equipped with impressive features, including an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet, more than 24 hours of endurance, and the capability to carry a variety of munitions, including bombs, missiles, and torpedoes.

Upon his arrival in Karachi, General Munir was warmly received by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi.

A total of 557 exhibitors are participating in IDEAS-2024, with 333 international exhibitors and 224 from Pakistan. Notably, 36 countries have set up stalls, including 17 nations participating for the first time. Over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries attended the event, demonstrating strong international confidence in Pakistan’s defense industry.
