The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha, attended today in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to defeat ISIS.
In his statement, he reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms of terrorism and the efforts it has been undertaking to combat this phenomenon.
He underscored the support of the OIC for all international and regional efforts aimed at preventing violent extremism and combating international terrorism for securing global peace and security. He also drew attention towards the urgent need to address the root causes and underlying factors of violent extremism and terrorism.
While appreciating the dedicated efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America and the members of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS to address the phenomenon of violent extremism and terrorism, he reiterated the OIC’s readiness to stay engaged in any form of cooperation towards stronger international partnership in countering extremism and terrorism.
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the acts of sabotage, perpetrated by armed groups, against the Chancery of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum and its annexes, as well as the housing and properties of its Saudi employees. The General Secretariat denounced the repeated targeting of diplomatic buildings and housing for their staff. Furthermore, it stressed the need to put an end to these attacks.—PR
