As the race to the White House intensifies with President Joe Biden facing Republican candidate Donald Trump in November, Barack Obama has jumped into the fray to rescue his former vice president from losing the reelection.
Former President Barack Obama sat for hours in the White House with Joe Biden and discussed the way to defeat Donald Trump amid intensified battleground, according to a CNN report.
In a video call of Obama, Biden, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in the White House residence heralding the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, the former president said: “We have the chance to do even more, but that only happens if we send Joe and Kamala back to the White House in November.” “So, we’ve got to keep working,” the 62-year-old said.
CNN reported that “the campaign also recorded other content featuring the two presidents that they plan to roll out in the coming weeks.”
Obama keeps in close contact with the officials of the Biden administration on a regular basis. He has been helping the 81-year-old Biden in his reelection bid by fundraising and meetings.
In a fundraiser, two former presidents Obama and Bill Clinton will sit with Biden in a rare conversa-tion, moderated by Stephen Colbert.
Their sitting shows that the US is in a crucial mo-ment of history where they are in strong spirits to defeat Donald Trump.
“No one can speak to disillusioned Democrats better than President Obama,” CNN quoted a close person of Obama and Biden.
As former US president Donald Trump has been surrounded with legal troubles facing indictments including the charge of Capitol Hill riots, cam-paigner for Joe Biden has made a shocking revela-tion about the Republican and his threats.
Jim Messina — who also served as campaign manager for Barack Obama in 2012 — told CNN: “Being the president of the United States means you’re part of a small club; there is no other group of people whose red flags about the direct threat of Donald Trump should be taken more seriously.”
Joe Biden has been criticising the business mogul for undermining the US democracy and institutions with his false claims such as rigged elections of 2020.
The 77-year-old Trump has been facing four criminal indictments and 91 counts of felonies including election interference in 2020 in Georgia, retention of classified documents after leaving the office, hush money to an adult film star, and instigating supporters to storm Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
Barack Obama and his former White House team are providing their full assistance against the Republican businessman.
Messina also said that former president Obama plans to do whatever he can to help 81-year-old Biden secure a second term.
“That mission has only been made significantly more urgent by Trump’s emergence as the presumptive Republican nominee,” he noted.
“President Obama once said to me that every president is a reflection of the previous president, and he’s right. Trump was the complete opposite of Obama, and Biden is the complete opposite of Trump.”
On Thursday, President Biden, along with Obama and former president Bill Clinton is all set to sit for a campaign fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall which people from the entertainment industry are also expected to join.—Agencies
