ISLAMABAD – All New Year’s Eve celebrations have been cancelled in Pakistan as the Asian nation stands in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israeli attacks.
The country’s interim prime minister Anwaar Kakar in his address said his country is in a sad state due to brutalities in the Gaza and the government thus decided to end all celebrations related to New Year.
The premier urged all Pakistanis to show solidarity with distressed people of Gaza and observe simplicity with the dawn of the new year, reminding everyone that Palestinians are facing catastrophic situation since early October.
In previous years, Pakistanis used to mark New Year with cultural diversity and religious harmony. Across the nation, people come together to welcome in accordance with the Gregorian calendar.
Gaza Situation
Situation in Palestine remained inhuman as Israeli boming continues unabated. Amid Israel’s military attacks in Gaza, which started from October 7, the death toll soared to 20,000, with over thousnda of them are women and children.
The attacks in Gaza are coupled by power breakdown, lack of access to food, drinking water, fuel and medicines, and assault forced 1.5 million people from their homes. All these factors collectively contribute to a severe humanitarian crisis, calling for the attention of global powers.
