Govt committed to strengthen economy
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar Monday said that the civil and military leadership were on the same page against miscreants involved in the 9 May incidents who will be brought to justice.
Talking to a private news channel he said that such incidents should be condemned, adding that the government was committed to strengthening the national economy and all stakeholders should play their role in this regard. While criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he said the Khan’s government had “brought the country to the brink of default”, but the current rulers “preferred” to save the nation instead of its votes.
The finance minister said that we all have to work together to get the country out of the crisis due to the wrong policies of the previous government.
PTI must realize that its dirty politics was not in the interests of Pakistan and was also alarming for its future as well, he mentioned.
He said that if Khan was serious about prioritizing national interests, he should win the trust of the nation, state institutions and armed forces and to prove himself that he was not following any foreign agenda.
Ishaq Dar said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman should admit to his mistakes and vow not to repeat them.
Dar said the budget preparation was in the final stage to present a relief-oriented and business-friendly budget in order to avoid further burdening the poor. He said the government was striving hard to steer the country out of the financial crisis as it is indicating positively. He said some internal and external elements blatantly attempted to destabilize the country’s economy. The country’s economy was destroyed during Imran Khan’s regime as they signed hard commitments with financial organizations and violated all the agreement conditions. In past, the government has allowed the pre-flow of the currency in the market and brought its value down artificially, Dar said. The devaluation of the currency has heightened inflation and the government is aware of the people’s suffering and assured that every promise made with the public would be met, he added. The government has working on the formation of a comprehensive strategy to bring the dollar price down to its actual level which was less than 250 rupees. He said the value of the US dollar will be 240 to 250 rupees in the coming days which would be its real value. He said internationally the dollar was getting stronger, however, in Pakistan, he would bring it down to its actual level. The minister added that talks with Imran Khan can be held now only if he apologizes to the nation.
