Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) arranged a function at the Aiwan-e-Quaid Wednesday to celebrate Independence Day. Special Assistant of Prime Minister, Ali Nawaz Awan was the chief guest who hoisted the national flag amid national anthem and patriotic songs played by the Police band. A significant feature of the ceremony was the raising of Azad Kashmir flag as a mark of Pakistani nation’s solidarity with the struggling people of Indian Occupied Kashmir. The Azad Kashmir flag symbolizes aspiration of the Kashmiri people for accession of their land with Pakistan.
After national flag hosting ceremony, the chief guest inaugurated a display of photographs of the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of Pakistan Movement in the historical prospective. Photographs of important events of the national struggle for independence were also on display.
A large number of people belonging to various segments of society participated in the Independence Day function at the Aiwan-e-Quaid. They included Chairman NPC, Dr. Naeem Ghani, Senior Chairman NPC, Mian Mohammad Javed, Editor-in-Chief, Pakistan Observer, Faisal Zahid Malik, Executive Editor Pakistan Observer, Gauhar Zahid Malik, prominent scholar Prof. Dr Ayub Sabir and Dr. Afzal Babar. Youths, children and women attended the function in large numbers. Boy scouts and girl guides clad in smart uniforms added colour to the celebration.
