MANSEHRA – Pakistan’s famous tourist valley of Naran and its adjoining areas have been closed for tourists amid the risk of heavy snowfall in the picturesque region.
The district administration announced a ban on tourists visiting Naran and its surrounding areas due to severe weather conditions and the possibility of snowfall
Mansehra DC Khalid Iqbal confirmed the ban in light of public safety, as all tourist sites in the region have been closed temporarily. As Naran and other nearby regions remain closed to visitors, officials from the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) reassured tourists that other popular winter destinations, including Shogran and the nearby Balakot, will remain open.
The local authorities are directed to remain vigilant throughout the winter season to assist tourists and provide guidance as needed.
Authorities are urging visitors to stay informed about weather updates and to exercise caution when traveling to mountainous areas during the winter month.
Scores of tourists used to get stuck in these regions every year. In a recent operation, the Pakistan Army successfully rescued 15 tourists who had been trapped in Deosai due to heavy snowfall.
The armed forces team responded promptly to the distressing situation, launching both air and ground rescue operations. Despite extreme cold and ongoing snowfall, the forces team continued the mission, navigating harsh conditions to reach the stranded individuals.
All passengers were safely rescued and brought to safety in Skardu in the wake of risks faced by travelers in high-altitude regions during the winter season.
