ISLAMABAD – Pakistani diaspora in UAE is one of the largest and most significant overseas communities in the Emirates and these foreign residing nationals play a crucial role, contributing to the economy through remittances and investments.
To mainstream their interaction with Pakistani institutions, authorities rolled out the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) – a basic ID document that simplifies UAE-residing Pakistanis to various services and is accepted as a valid form of identification.
NADRA’s NICOP certifies foreign residing status as overseas Pakistanis comes with security features and contains all details including the person’s name, latest pictures, birth date, and a unique ID number. NICOP is said to be mandated for all financial transactions, property registrations, and legal formalities.
NICOP features make it a protected one, and is considered safe for the bearer and government.
National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) holds the authority to manage, record, and issue NICOP to the Pakistani diaspora living in UAE, and other countries.

NADRA’s fee structure for Smart NICOP is different as per region, and UAE and other Gulf nations lies in Zone B.

Who can get NICOP in 2024?
Residents of United Arab Emirates can easily obtain an NICOP card, which allows visa-free travel to South Asian countries for those with dual nationality. Residents can apply for new Smart NICOP by visiting Nadra center.
In UAE, residents can also use Pak Identity app to renew their NICOP without needing to visit a Nadra center in person.
