ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday arrested former information minister Fawad Chaudhry in a corruption case.
The former PTI leader was taken into custody from the Adiala jail after NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt issued an arrest warrant for him.
Chaudhry will be produced before the accountability court to get his physical remand for interrogation in the case.
The former minister has been detained in Adiala Jail since November 4 when he was arrested after a complaint was lodged against him in Aabpara police station in Islamabad for receiving Rs5 million bribe in exchange for a job.
He was also arrested in January this year for allegedly threatening the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while talking to media outside Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore.
In June, Fawad Chaudhry tendered an apology for using indecent language against the ECP and its chief.
During the same month, he was spotted during the launching ceremony of the Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), which is headed by Jahangir Khan Tareen.
