National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has decided against the provision of parliamentary records to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Supreme Court (Practices and Procedure) Bill case.
On Tuesday, Supreme Court of Pakistan Registrar Ishrat Ali sought the record of five National Assembly sessions from the speaker’s office.
The matter of providing a record of the parliamentary proceedings was left to the consent of the lower house of the parliament. The sources said the NA yet has not given consent on the matter.
The SC registrar’s office sought record of NA sessions held on April 6, 10, 17, 26 and 27. The minutes of National Assembly standing committee on Finance have also been sought by the SC office.
Earlier in the day, Supreme Court directed AGP Mansoor Awan to submit the parliamentary record in the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure Bill) 2023 by today.
