RIYADH – Saudi Arabia, the Palestinian Authority and other Muslim countries on Tuesday strongly condemned Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s threat to synagogue on Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
The Muslim nations denounced the statement as an act of incitement and an exacerbation of the conflict in the region.
According to Arab media, Saudi Arabia labeled the Israeli minister’s remarks as extremist, rejecting the statement for offending the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and being provocative in nature.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of respecting the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The ministry urged the international community to take serious measures to address the humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people and to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations of international laws and resolutions.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, condemned the Israeli minister’s controversial statement, asserting that any attempt to undermine the sanctity and status of Al-Aqsa Mosque aims to drag the region into a devastating war.
Jordan, the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque, described the Israeli minister’s remarks as a violation of international law and unacceptable incitement.
Jordan called for a clear stance from the international community to condemn and counter these statements.
Meanwhile, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Gulf States and other Muslim countries also issued strong condemnations of the Israeli minister’s statements.
