Murree, Galyat weather update; more rain, snowfall likely

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rains and snowfall for Murree and Galyat on Monday evening/night.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan. It is likely to prevail during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall is expected in Murree, Galyat and surroundings on Monday evening/night.

On Tuesday, partly cloudy and freezing weather is likely in Murree, Galyat and surroundings.

Murree’s minimum temperature is expected to be between -03 to -01 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Galyat and other tourist sites in the country during the last 24 hours. Light rain/drizzle and snowfall occurred at scattered places in Galyat.

In Murree, the mercury dropped 03 C below freezing. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 82 per cent.

Tourists continued to visit Murree and Galyat in large numbers, causing a huge burden on existing infrastructure. The massive influx of tourists for snowfall seeing caused a traffic mess in Murree and on the roads leading to Galyat and other tourist destinations.

Tourists complained about lack of parking space, a hefty increase in prices of commodities and rent of hotels. They also complained about the improper attitude of owners and employees of businesses in Malika-e-Kohsar.
