Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, MQM Pakistan Deputy Convener Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that the inflation rate in the country has reached a very high level which makes it difficult for the poor, middle class and salaried class to make ends meet.
“Consumers are out of the purchasing power of food, sugar flour, pulses, meat and vegetables.
Deputy commissioners at the district level have failed to control prices. Governments should review their performance.
To what extent have they been able to control the prices and bring relief to the people? On the other hand, the business community and traders in Karachi are uneasy and they want to keep the business open 24 hours a day.”
Kanwar Naveed demanded from the federal government to reduce the prices of gas and electricity and medicines and to immediately end the load shedding of gas and electricity.
Member Coordinating Committee and Member Provincial Assembly Muhammad Hussain, Javed Hanif were also present at MQM Pakistan’s headquarters in Bahadurabad.
He further said that it is the responsibility of the governments to control inflation and observe peaceful Ramadan.
If the governments did not control inflation then the poor and middle class could not maintain their livelihood.
Therefore, MQM Pakistan demands that the prices of all commodities including food items be brought down and relief be provided to the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Member Coordinating Committee and Member Sindh Assembly Muhammad Hussain said that the prices of food items have increased more in the month of March as compared to last 7 months and the price control system including Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners of Sindh. They have failed miserably in controlling prices.
On the other hand, the Sindh government is devoting all its energies to airing rural and urban divisions in Sindh.
Members of the MQM Pakistan Provincial Assembly were also present on the occasion.
