As the authorities continued coming hard on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leadership in the wake of May 9 incident, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on Wednesday arrested two more senior leaders of the PTI from Swat including a former provincial Minister in the Mehmood Khan government.

The two leaders arrested by the Swat Police include former provincial minister Dr. Amjad Ali and former Swat mayor Shahid Ali Khan and. Both the leaders were arrested under Maintenance of Public Order (PPO) and had been wanted by the police that have been conducting raids for their arrests.

Dr. Amjad is accused of inciting PTI workers to protest after Imran Khan was arrested. He allegedly assembled party workers for a protest at Chakdara Motorway. The Chakdara Interchange was also set to fire during this protest.

The case against Amjad involves clauses of terrorism and mutiny. Both PTI leaders have been shifted to an unknown location after arrest.

Authorities, it may be recalled, have been cracking down on PTI leaders and workers in the wake of the May 9 protests which broke out across the country when Imran Khan was arrested from within the premises of the Islamabad High in the day.
