More rain, isolated hailstorm likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – More rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over the western and upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely strengthen this evening and persist in the upper parts till Tuesday.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms and heavy falls are expected in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday evening/night and the following two days. Heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from today till 29th April.

Landslides are also likely in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 20-22 degrees Celsius on Monday and 23-25 C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 21-23 C on Monday and 24-26 C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-windstorms/thunderstorms occurred in twin cities, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, north Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nawabshah remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 53 per cent.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 23 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 82 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 23 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 77 per cent.
