Militant’s ambush on a Police post at the Pak-Afghan Highway in the Khyber Tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday left at least three people martyred while two others sustained serious injuries. Those embraced Shahadat include a Police Officer, a cop and a civilian.
“The armed terrorists attacked the police checkpoint setup in Charwazagai area at the Pak-Afghan highway near the LandiKotal Bazar that martyred the police personnel, including Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) AlamZeb, and injured one policeman and a civilian”. District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas told media persons.
According to the police, the civilians martyred and injured in the attack were passersby. The policemen and civilians were initially rushed to the LandiKotal Hospital for immediate medical assistance, but were later shifted to the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar due to their critical condition where the medics pronounced the victims dead.
The police posts attacked by the terrorists, authorities say, was established on the Pak-Afghan highway at a distance of three kilometers from the LandiKotal Bazar.
Security was placed on high alert throughout the district in the wake of the incident as the security forces kicked off the hunt for the terrorists responsible for the fresh attack. The terrorists fled the scene after committing the crime and remained at large.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal KarimKundi has condemned the terrorist attack on the police checkpoint located on the Pak-Afghan highway in Khyber LandiKotal district and expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of three people including 2 policemen in the terrorist attack.
Expressing prayers for the elevation of martyrs and good wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured, Governor said the sacrifices of the police and security forces in the war against terrorism further strengthen their resolve to defend the motherland and purge the region from terrorists.
