LAHORE – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday turned down the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi seeking permission for appearance before it via video link from Adiala Jail.

Judge Khalid Arshad of the ATC passed the order while hearing the request of the PTI leader.

The judge directed the PTI leader to appear in person before it in the case of criminal nature.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi had asked the court that traveling from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to Lahore was much inconvenient.

The court directed the jail authorities to shift Qureshi from Adiala jail to Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore.

It may be mentioned here that Qureshi who served as a foreign minister twice was charged in a criminal case related to May 9 riots.

However, Qureshi had pleaded not guilty and decided to contest the case.
