Senior retired bureaucrat and Chairman [designate] of Federal Public Service Commission [FPSC] Raja Mauroof Afzal Khan, who died of Covid-19 in a Rawalpindi hospital on Thursday, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard at his native town of Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Mauroof Afzal, 60, was the grand son of veteran senior Kashmiri bureaucrat, one of the pioneers of the AJK government / retired Secretary to the first government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir established on October 24, 1947 – Colonel [Retd] Raja Adalat Khan [late] who had also served in the former Dogra Regime in Jammu Kashmir State before 1947 as the civil service officer holding various senior positions. Late Col. [Retd] Raja Adalat Khan had later migrated to Azad Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and performed in various key slots in the newly-formed Azad govt. of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in the liberated territory.
He was brother of Raja Farooq Afzal and nephew of Raja Muhammad Azam Khan, a senior retired banker.
Funeral prayer, attended by the people from all walks of life including the serving and retired officials of the government of Pakistan and AJK , was offered entire according to the determined SOPs.
