LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz came down hard upon the top judiciary by saying that the Supreme Court’s decision is an attempt to create instability.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Model Bazaar in Township on Friday (today), Maryam Nawaz said that whenever the country heads towards stability, someone starts getting troubled. She added that she doesn’t know whose evil eye affects the country, and a group of few individuals starts making decisions that halt the journey of progress.
She stated that the Supreme Court has rewritten the Constitution, and that Umar Ata Bandial rewrote the Constitution. She mentioned that a defeated person is a criminal of the nation and is responsible for the hardships faced by the nation today. She accused the Supreme Court of rewriting the Constitution for one individual and that PTI was given what it did not even ask for on a silver platter.
“The person responsible for the country’s destruction is sitting in Adiala Jail,” Maryam Nawaz said. She added that PML-N had three terms in government and set new records of service, while one person had four years and caused unprecedented destruction. Nawaz Sharif had said goodbye to the IMF, but the same person who brought the IMF back is now in Adiala Jail.
The Chief Minister of Punjab appealed to the judges of the Supreme Court to let the country run smoothly. She said the person they want to bring back is a criminal of the nation, and that they will not let these conspiracies succeed. She asserted that their government would complete its five-year term and that any attempts to create hindrances would be dealt with firmly. She pleaded for mercy on the country.
Maryam Nawaz criticized Imran Khan, saying that he is presented as innocent, but everyone witnessed his crimes on TV. When given the chance, he played with blood and fire. She expressed her distress and said she would speak out because this is her country and protecting it is her and the nation’s responsibility. She promised to continue setting new examples of development as long as they hold these positions.
“We will build model bazaars in all districts of Punjab,” she said. Maryam Nawaz praised Afzal Khokhar for excellently establishing model bazaars. She said these bazaars were created for the convenience and ease of the public, and she visited the model bazaar where women praised it. She said that there were chairs for disabled individuals, benches, and shaded stands in various places.
The Chief Minister of Punjab said that items are available in model bazaars at discounted prices, even lower than the DC rates. She mentioned plans to build model bazaars in cities where they currently do not exist, saying they have identified the land, and model bazaars will be established in all districts of Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz stated that all model bazaars would be upgraded to facilitate the public. She said nothing could make her happier than the public’s happiness and that they have established a new tradition in Punjab. She announced the start of a home delivery service from model bazaars, ensuring that people’s rights would be delivered to their doorsteps. During Ramadan, they delivered the Ramadan package to the public’s doorsteps.
She mentioned that women would get free delivery of items at discounted rates with just a call or through an app. Kitchen essentials would be available at their doorsteps at discounted rates.
Maryam Nawaz heavily criticized the founder of PTI, saying he used to claim he did not come to lower the prices of potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. She spends her entire day reducing the prices of these items and monitors the rates of all items live. Reducing inflation is a challenging task, not easy.
“Our utmost effort is to keep the prices of bread and flour stable,” she said, adding that only during Nawaz Sharif and PML-N’s government do the prices of items decrease.
When her father was Prime Minister, her grandfather used to tell him not to let the prices of flour and bread increase, as the poor only eat bread.
She said she strived to keep the prices of flour and bread from rising.
She stated that inflation decreased and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had to make difficult decisions. The economy, she said, was ruined over the past four years, and the country faced difficulties due to the incompetence of the previous government. They inherited a progressing Pakistan, but they did not receive a developing Pakistan.
“Announcement to provide solar panels to consumers of up to 500 units in installments,” the Chief Minister of Punjab said.
She stated that today the dollar rate has decreased, and inflation has reduced. It pains them to impose taxes on the public, but they would do everything they could.
Maryam Nawaz announced that the province of Punjab is bringing the largest solar project in Pakistan’s history. The Punjab government is providing free solar panels to consumers of up to 200 units and giving solar systems on installments to consumers of 200 to 500 units, to be paid off in five years.
“My job is to provide facilities to the public,” the Chief Minister of Punjab further stated. She mentioned that this is the first Muharram where they provided water stands and food offerings for mourners. She does not concern herself with which sect someone belongs to; her job is to provide facilities to the public, and she would continue to do so. For the first time, they did not shut down internet services anywhere.
For the first time, the processions and gatherings were monitored through drone cameras.
She praised the exemplary work of rescue and law enforcement agencies during Muharram. She mentioned that all cabinet members were present in the field and had duties in each division. She commended the administration and security agencies for excellent arrangements.
