KARACHI – In a major decision, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has decided to verify the educational degrees of its officers and employees.

Reports said the KDA has ordered all employees and officers in grade 16 and above to submit their educational degrees.

It has sent a letter to the heads of all departments, instructing them to ensure that all employees and officers submit the degrees, which are verified by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

In addition to the degrees, the employees and officers have also been instructed to submit their birth certificates, adding that the process should be completed within seven days.

Those who fail to submit their degrees and birth certificates within seven days will face disciplinary action, it added.

KDA was established as the authority for planned development of Karachi in 1957 as it had replaced the earlier Karachi Improvement Trust (KIT).

KDA, along with the Lyari Development Authority and Malir Development Authority, is responsible for the development of undeveloped lands around Karachi.
