LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday set one-month time for re-registration of the all schools amid smog battle.
Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC passed the order while hearing the cases related to smog in the province.
The judge warned the schools that their registration would be suspended if they failed to comply with the bus policy.
During the hearing, Justice Karim also directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to review the city’s roads and come up with the traffic plan to deal with the congestion amid fight against smog.
The judge acknowledged the efforts’ measures in fight against smog but emphasized upon strict implementation.
“Environmental protection is a very serious matter,” remarked Justice Karim, adding that any further delay in this regard would not be accepted.
Khalid Nazir, the secretary schools, also appeared before the court and submitted a report about the private schools.
“Under the new policy, the schools will be allowed to operate if they run their own buses,” said the report, emphasizing the schools to provide transportation to the students.
The judge remarked that the matter of schools’ buses is very serious and emphasized upon enforcement of all the directives before the next season of smog.
During the proceedings, the court also expressed dismay over lack of implementations of the traffic rules around the bus stations and housing societies on Multan road. He also directed the relevant authorities to take immediate action in this regard.
