The Lahore High Court on Tuesday extended a big relief to the electricity consumers in general by ordering authorities concerned to withdraw fuel adjustment charges from their power tariff.
It is worth mentioning here that the earlier government had only provided relief to consumers using 200 electricity units.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Ch Rizwan Elahi advocate. The LHC Rawalpindi bench headed by Justice Jawad Hassan announced the verdict on Tuesday.
The petitioner requested the court to withdraw the fuel adjustment charges being taken from the power consumers.
While announcing the verdict, the court directed the authorities that instead of providing relief to consumers who are using only 200 units, the relief should be provided to all electricity users ordering the government to withdraw fuel adjustment charges from the bills.
Meanwhile, Lahore High Court Justice Anwaar Hussain also heard a petition against the fuel adjustment charges on Tuesday.
