LHC issues notice to DC Lahore over non-compliance in PTI rally case

LAHORE –  The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, seeking an explanation in a case concerning non-compliance with a court order regarding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled for September 21.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the contempt of court petition filed by Akmal Khan Bari, Senior Vice President of PTI Central Punjab, against the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore.

In relation to PTI’s rally in Lahore on September 21, the court has given the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore eight days to respond, issued him notice in this regard.

The petition, filed by Akmal Khan Bari, stated that despite the court’s orders, the Deputy Commissioner has yet to inform about the venue for the rally.

According to the petitioner’s lawyer, holding a peaceful rally in Lahore is PTI’s constitutional and democratic right.

He asked the court to direct the relevant authorities to allow PTI jalss in the city.
