Provincial Industries and Trade Minister Aslam Iqbal has said that it is responsibility of the administration to ensure availability of essential edibles and their selling at fixed rates.
He said this during his visit to Township Main Bazaar where he reviewed availability and prices of flour and other essential items on this occasion. The minister censured administration and relevant officers over not displaying rate lists at few shops.
Aslam Iqbal ordered to repatriate price control magistrate to his parent department for showing negligence in his duties. He also expressed his indignation over the administration for letting the shops remain open despite imposition of smart lockdown. He directed to improve cleanliness conditions in the markets. He remarked that he is himself present in the field to provide relief to the public and exhorted the concerned officers to remain present in the field also.
He underscored that it is responsibility of the administration to ensure availability of essential edibles and their selling at fixed rates. He warned them that there is no scope of showing any negligence or lapse in their duties and directed that rate lists on all shops must be displayed at prominent places.
The Minister urged that government officers should perform their duties with full zeal and zest for rendering public service. He deplored that those officers who are not interested to provide relief to the masses have no right to remain on their posts. He pledged that he would not let the masses remain at the mercy of price-hike mafias and resolved to go to the last extent in order to safeguard public interests.
The minister highlighted that smart lockdown has been imposed to impede the spread the Covid pandemic and urged the masses to show cooperation.
