Lahore, Punjab weather update; more monsoon rains, heavy falls predicted

LAHORE – More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy falls and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), deep depression over Nagarparkar and adjoining coastal areas of Sindh will likely move west/southwestwards during next 24 hours.

Due to this weather system, strong monsoon currents penetrate Pakistan, especially southern parts. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts from tomorrow.

Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains are predicted in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur and Rahimyar Khan on Wednesday night and the next two days.

Heavy rains may occur in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan and Faisalabad.

Heavy rains may trigger landslides in Murree and Galliyat. Urban flooding is likely in Multan, Sahiwal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Islamabad/Rawalpindi.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 85 per cent.
