Lahore, Punjab weather update; more intermittent rains, heavy falls likely

LAHORE – More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy falls and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night and the next two days.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), deep depression over Rann of Kutch, India will likely intensify into cyclonic storm during next 24 hours. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains are likely across Punjab on Thursday night and the next two days.

Heavy falls are likely in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu and Rahimyar Khan.

Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Widespread rains may trigger landslides in Murree and Galliyat. Downpour may cause urban flooding in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal and Rawalpindi.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
