Lahore, Punjab weather update; light rain, cold wave expected

LAHORE – Light rain is expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday night.

Cold wave will likely prevail and persist across Punjab till December 14.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over northeastern parts of Pakistan. It will likely move northeastwards during the next 12 to 18 hours.

Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather with light rain-thunderstorm is expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura and Faisalabad on Sunday night. Light rain and light snow are also likely in Murree, Galliyat and surroundings.

On Monday, cold wave conditions are expected in most districts of the province. However, partly cloudy weather with light rain and light snow is likely in Murree, Galliyat and surrounding.

Fog (in patches) is likely to persist in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Khanpur, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and surroundings during morning/night hours. Frost is likely to prevail in upper Punjab during the morning.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09°C on Monday and 09-11°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred at isolated places.

Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab where the temperature dropped to 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 44 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 58 per cent.
