Lahore, Punjab weather update; intermittent rains, gusty winds predicted

LAHORE – Monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen on Monday evening/night. A shallow westerly wave prevails over extreme northern parts of the country. A fresh westerly wave will likely approach the upper parts on Monday evening/night.

Under these weather conditions, light rains are predicted in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi and Jhelum on Sunday night.

On Monday and Tuesday, intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali. Heavy falls are expected in Potohar region.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Monday and 34-36°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 57 per cent.
