LAHORE – Monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday night and Wednesday (Ashura days).
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light to moderate monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate central and upper parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur and Bahawalnagar on Tuesday night and Wednesday with occasional gaps. Hot and humid weather is likely elsewhere in the province.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Wednesday and 37-39°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Attock remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Maximum temperature in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Sargodha was recorded at 41°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.
