Lahore experiences winter’s coldest day as temperature drops to 05°C

LAHORE – Lahore experienced the coldest day of winter season on Monday as the minimum temperature dropped to 05°C.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is passing over upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, a cold wave will likely persist in Lahore and most districts of the province on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Very cold/partly cloudy weather is likely in Murree, Galiyat and surroundings. Shallow to moderate fog/shallow smog (in patches) is likely at few places in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar and surroundings during night and morning hours.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06°C on Tuesday and 05-07°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Extremely cold weather prevailed in Murree, Galliyat and upper districts. Fog (in patches) prevailed in plains of the province during morning hours.

Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab where the temperature dropped to the freezing point (0°C). Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 45 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 05°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 44 per cent.
