LAHORE – Lahore, once known as the city of orchards, is struggling with poor air quality amid smog battle in the region.
The city is top of the list among the world’s most polluted cities as of today—the first day of the week.
The city’s particulate matter (PM) level has been recorded at 275.
In comparison, Multan recorded a PM level of 248 while Karachi’s level stood at 193.
Karachi’s air quality has also been deemed extremely hazardous, placing it third among the world’s most polluted cities.
Experts consider an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 151 to 200 as hazardous, and 201 to 300 as extremely hazardous to health.
The experts say that the current air quality poses significant health risks. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and ensure the use of masks for safety.
