The KPT Head Office Building is a striking emblem of Karachi’s architectural heritage, reflecting a blend of British, Hindu, and Gothic influences from the British Raj era. Completed in 1915 and inaugurated by Lord Willingdon on 5th January 1916, it originally served as a hospital during World War I. Its distinctive sepia-toned stone exterior, majestic dome, and intricate arches showcase Roman architectural inspirations.
The interior features spacious rooms with high ceilings, ornate teak woodwork, and stunning glass windows, including the impressive Chairman’s Room beneath the dome. The historical landmark is designed by Mr. George Wittet, covering 1400 sq.meter with a cost of Rs.9,74,990/-. It stands as a testament to Karachi’s rich history and ongoing efforts to honor and maintain its legacy for future generations. On this occasion of its 109th anniversary, we celebrate its enduring significance and the stories it holds.
