KP Governor spends busy day after assuming charge; receives felicitations

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali after formally assuming constitutional position on Thursday spent a busy day at the office and expressed resolve to deal with all issues under the constitution. The governor was greeted by Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and PPP Leader Yusuf Raza Gilani on telephone and expressed good wishes for him to fulfill his new responsibilities with dedication.

Awami National Party (ANP) MPA Khushdil Khan Advocate also called on the Governor here at the Governor House, while leaders of both political parties also congratulated the Governor on assuming new responsibilities. A delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry under the chairmanship of President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh also visited the Governor House and conveyed their best wished to the Governor.

It should be noted that the newly appointed Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali, has been associated with Jamiat Ulema Islam (F) for the past 39 years. During 1983-90, he was the councilor of Municipal Corporation Peshawar and from 2006 to 2009 he remained Nazim-e- Alla of Peshawar. He was a senator from 2009-15 and from 2009 to 2012 he was also the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting.

In 2011, he was elected as the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while from 2012 to 2017, he was also the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of 58 Islamic Countries, which is a part of the Organization of Islamic Countries. Similarly, he has been the founder of Tribal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while he has been the Advisor of China/South Asia Business Forum and the director of Federal Board of Investment.
