Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given a last chance to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to issue a notification of amendments in local bodies’ law till October 22. The three member bench of ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan heard the case related to the KP local bodies election.
At the start of the hearing additional advocate general KP recited verses of the Quran, to which, the CEC remarked that ‘the versus you recited always go against you only.’ CEC remarks brought laughter in the whole room. Additional Advocate General informed the CEC that delimitation work for creation of city and tehsil councils has not been started yet adding that after 18th amendment the government has been facing several problems while determination of general and special seats is possible after delimitation while army will be needed for the election in amalgamated districts of erstwhile FATA.
