EVERY year, 5th January is observed by Pakistanis and Kashmiris across the globe to remind UN and international community for their obligation to fulfill the just demand of right of self-determination for Kashmiris. Pakistanis think it as their obligation to endorse ideological and moral support to our Kashmiri brothers for their commitment and determination to stand for their fundamental human rights. Right to self-determination is the fundamental and foremost right of people to control their own destiny.
By virtue of that right they liberally determine their political status and openly pursue their financial, communal and cultural development. The right of people to self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law and this principle is prominently embodied in Article (I) of Charter of the United Nations, Articles 1 and 12 of International Covenant on civil and political rights, Article 1(1) of International covenant on economic social and cultural rights and in convention on elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination. Right of people and nations to self-determination is a prerequisite to the full enjoyment of all fundamental human rights.
5th January reminds us the resolution of UNCIP back in 1949, where the UN decided that question of the accession of State of Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan will be decided through democratic method of free and impartial plebiscite. While the Secretary General of UN, in agreement with the Commission, will nominate a Plebiscite Administrator who shall be responsible for administrating the plebiscite. Unfortunately, all efforts of UN and International community got wasted due to disagreements and inappropriate behavior from India. Role of international community is also missing or somehow remained inactive to solve this issue through dialogue. Due to war mongering and fascist approach of India, we were compelled to fight 3 wars to save our home land.
More than 72 years of Indian brutality on Kashmiri elders, women’s, youth and children cannot be described in words. Since Aug 05, 2019 the innocent Kashmiris are facing worst curfew and bloodshed in the known history. Modi’s government has become symbol of Hindutwa and anti-Muslims driven entity. It is not wrong to say that Kashmir has become the largest prison of the world with more than 1 million occupation forces. Post 5 Aug, 2019 a six dimensional inhuman behavior has been adopted by Indian government. Firstly, freedom of expression has been taken from Kashmiris. Secondly, the right to live freely has been snatched and they have been bound to stay inside their homes due to worst curfew.
Thirdly, food items have been deliberately made short from the markets. Fourthly, facility of medical treatment has been taken from the wounded and ill citizens of Kashmir. Fifthly, women are raped in an uncountable number and harassed in every street of Kashmir on permanent basis. Sixthly, the facility to remain connected with the world in the form of Print, TV and internet has been suspended so that the real black face of Modi’s government should remain hidden.
UN should honour the commitments which were made 72 years ago. India has always tried to bribe international community due to its big consumer market. In order to maintain its illegal occupation on Kashmir, draconian laws were introduced inside the valley. Chaos and fear can be seen inside Kashmir valley due to brutal state terrorism. The principles and integrity of international community are confronted by India at all forums. Indian actions are widely rejected by human rights organizations and international community but still they are unable to put the required pressure on India to give free and fair democratic rights to Kashmiris to select their fate.
It is now known to everyone that secular India was only a drama to make fool of international community. India has become a RSS led Hindutwa mob where life of minorities specially Muslims in particular and Christians, Sikhs, Jews in general have become miserable. Modi has been named as Hitler by its own public. In the past, Modi was involved in genocide of Muslims in Gujrat and now in Kashmir. Modi has compelled Indian forces to conduct massive cease fire violations across LoC and instructed them to target innocent citizens.
If Modi will remain in power in India for some more time, he will himself destroy the country and put such ignition of racism and hatred among different communities, which will not be controlled by anyone. Change in the status of the disputed territory of IIOJ&K and abrogation of article 35A and 370 can be seen as another manifestation of the Narendra Modi-led BJP Government’s Hindutva ideology. Modi is trying to change the demography of Kashmir and wanted to convert Muslim majority to minority.
The movement of Kashmiris is indigenous and Pakistan do not believe in arms support. Pakistan has always remained firm in its stand to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to legitimate voice of self-motivated and committed people of IIOJ&K. We will always remain vigilant to expose Indian nefarious designs to sabotage just cause of Kashmiris. Pakistani nation and government will keep on realizing international community and UN for their role through peaceful protests, demonstrations, media and diplomacy.
Our hearts beat with Kashmiris, for Kashmiris and we will always defend our jugular vein from fascist RSS led Modi’s govt. Pakistan stands ready to play its role to ensure a free and impartial plebiscite in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and expects that UN and other international bodies will also look towards the suppressed Kashmiris in a positive manner.—Sheikh Fakhar-e-Alam
